A decade ago, the first guesthouse opened in the center of the Maldives, on an island of Maafushi. Now, Maafushi has become the country’s most cosmopolitan and progressive inhabited island with more than 50 hotels and guesthouses. Maafushi is famous for its beaches, diving, and excursions markets.
Maafushi may not be the most charming island that the Maldives has to offer, with only a few great beaches that tend to get crowded. Nevertheless, the location of the island is ideal for day trips.
