The Selous Game Reserve, nestled near an off-beaten and secluded spot in Tanzania, is known for its dramatic landscapes, rich flora and fauna, including the vibrant wildlife in Selous National Park. This expansive reserve stands as one of the largest protected areas on the entire African continent, spanning an impressive 54,000 square kilometers. Within its boundaries lie open woodlands, expansive grassy plains, and towering mountains, creating a diverse and captivating environment for the myriad species that call Selous home.<\/p>\n

With such an extensive area, the Selous Game Reserve is twice the size of the popular Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and three times bigger than South Africa\u2019s Kruger National Park<\/a>.<\/span> The reserve was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 for its rich wildlife diversity and uninterrupted nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. By air:<\/strong> The game reserve is easily accessible by any of the local airports connecting Ruha and Dar es Salaam. From Ruha, the flight duration is approximately 90 minutes, while from Dar es Salam, it is 45 minutes.<\/li>\n
    2. By car:<\/strong> The duration to reach Selous from Dar es Salam by car may take up to 4 hours, covering a distance of 220 kilometres.<\/li>\n
    3. By railway:<\/strong> The Tanzania Zambia Railway (AZARA) offers a train ride from Dar es Salaam to Selous. The ride takes about 4 hours and passes through rural villages, covering the African wilderness.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
