ITINERARY - 9 Days
Day 1

Paro→ Thimphu- Driving to the Capital City

On day 1, we will drive down to the capital city to begin your Bhutan honeymoon tour, giving you a unique experience of the riveting Bhutanese scenery filled with rivers, gorges, and hills.

After lunch, we head to Kuenselphodrang Nature Park, with a statue of Buddha Dordenma. Memorial Chorten is the final stop for the day, a whitewashed shrine dedicated to the third king of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. The night will be spent in the capital city.

Day 2

Exploring Thimphu

On Day 2, you get to explore the Bhutanese culture, heritage, and way of life with visits to Thimpu's weekend vegetable market, the Folk Heritage Museum, and the Institute of Zorig Chusum.

Learn about Bhutan's heritage as you walk by the museum exhibits of the country's folk culture. In the afternoon, we will see the artistic heritage of Bhutan through the wonderful displays at the Zorig Chusum.

We will end the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, home to the King’s Throne Room, monastic body, and government offices.

Day 3

Thimphu-->Phobjikha- Meeting Takin

Bhutan tour packages are incomplete without visiting the national animal of the country, the Takin, a unique creature with the head of a goat and the body of a cow, as you would see on your trip to the Motithang Takin Preserve in the morning.

Then, enjoy the view of the entire Thimphu Valley from the hilltops of Sangaygang. At Sangaygang, you can either take a stroll around the blue pines or climb uphill to enjoy the valley view.

Afterward, it is a 3-hour drive to Phobjikha, subjecting you to a panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain ranges on a clear day. Overnight stay at Phobjikha

Day 4

Phobjikha-->Punakha- Exploring the valley

In the morning, you will explore the beautiful valley of Phobjikha, enjoying its scenic beauty and the sight of rare and endangered black-necked cranes. Here, you will also see the roosting place of these cranes, where they roost annually during migration.

The afternoon brings a 3-hour drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. The journey to the city is one filled with marvelous scenery, worth taking your cameras out for. Once there, you are free to plan your day as you see fit. Overnight stay at Punakha.

Day 5

Exploring the old capital

Day 5 starts with a drive to the Punakha Valley. Once there, hike to the top of the hill to the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a monastery like no other with the intimidating sculpture of a wrathful deity. A stroll around the temple gives one a vibe of relaxation and plenty of photos.

In the afternoon, we go to Punakha Dzong, one of the most beautiful monasteries in the country, especially in the spring season. Overnight stay at Punakha.

 

Day 6

Heading back to Paro

Today we will drive down to Paro from Punakha and make a few stops at some of the chief attractions of Bhutan.

 

A short drive from Punakha, and we reach Lobesa. From here, we can walk down to Sopsokha village and explore its eccentric exterior artwork and 15th-century fertility temple, Chimi Lhakhang. Your Bhutan honeymoon tour is incomplete without experiencing this unusual little village.

The next stop is Tamchog Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the bridge builder who constructed suspension bridges in Bhutan and Tibet that are in use today. We end the day by reaching Paro and staying there overnight.

Day 7

Visiting the National Museum

Soak in the history of the country as you explore the great collection of Bhutanese artifacts spanning across hundreds of years with a visit to the National Museum of Bhutan.

The next stop for the day is the Rinpung Dzong monastery, with its rich Bhutanese architecture of intricate woodwork and large beams. This is followed by subsequent visits to one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, Kichu Lhakhang, and Drugyel Dzong, a ruined fortress and monastery.

With an overnight stay at Paro, in the evening, you can stroll through the town, drinking in the vibrant sights of the town.

Day 8

Visiting the Tiger's Nest

A visit to the Tiger's Nest, or Taktsang Monastery, is a must in most Bhutan tour packages, and day 8 covers this sacred site.

After a 35-minute ride leads to Ramthongkha, there is a trek uphill for up to 3 hours to reach the Taktsang Monastery. Once at the monastery, take time to explore the premises and enjoy the view from the peak.

In the evening, you get to experience the hot stone bath, which is believed to relieve pains and aches, perfect after the day's grueling trek. A typical Bhutanese dinner at a traditional Bhutanese house ends the day. Overnight stay at Paro.

Day 9

Heading Back Home

On the last day of the tour, the tour guides will help arrange transportation for your journey back home after reaching Paro. After an eventful trip, you will return home with loads of pictures and memories of the scenic beauty of the locales during your Bhutan honeymoon tour.
