Jabalpur Jabalpur tour

Jabalpur

Introduction

In the state at the center of India’s map, Madhya Pradesh is the location of Jabalpur. This city at the bank of river Narmada is one of the major cities of Madhya Pradesh. The architecture here holds colossal significance with the Gonds and the Kalichuris since they ruled it in the past. The city is full of places and activities that make it worth visiting. Oh, and there is the famous Khoye ki Jalebi (a local delicacy) to try too!

Dhuandhar Fallsis one of the top places to visit around Jabalpur. This 30 meters high waterfall is the water of the Narmada river that narrows down after passing through the Marble Rocks. The water comes down with such a speed that it appears to be smoke. That is why it is called Dhuandhar, meaning smoke and flow in Hindi. Both the sound and the view of the water are startling.

Along with Dhuandhar falls you can also visit the Marble rocks through an evening boat ride on Narmada river. The carving of the rocks by the Narmada river has made them a thing of beauty that beholds all the guests.

However, Jabalpur’s main claim to fame is being the gateway to prime Tiger territory, as far as India’s wildlife tourism goes. It has an airport which connects cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. From Jabalpur, India’s premier national parks, Kanha and Bandhavgarh, are 3-4 hours drive away.

Details

On our Tiger safari itineraries, we typically use Jabalpur as an air-hub and typically from Jabalpur the guests transit to Kanha or Bandhavgarh. However, often due to flight timings or logistics guests have to stay one night at Jabalpur. We strongly recommend spending an afternoon/evening at Marble rocks and Dhuandhar falls, which will surely be an unforgettable experience.

The sound of water coming down will be audible to you when you would still be on your way to theDhuandhar Falls. That is the kind of experience you will rejoice here. The sound of water is rip-roaring for the ears, the view is a delight to the eyes, and altogether it is a rekindle to the soul.

Every inch of your body will feel serene when you will be on the boat in the Narmada river. The yellow rays of sunlight fall on the white rock marbles giving them a sparkling look. The add on is the mist around due to the waterfall. The ropeway or the cable drive is an experience of thrill. Initially, it may seem a little scary, but once on it, you will enjoy yourself. It gives a beautiful view of the surrounding areas. Moreover, you can enjoy street food that the local vendors sell nearby. A visit to any place is incomplete without tasting the food there. If you do not prefer to eat street food, you can go to the restaurants nearby. Shop the artifacts, and have a lovely day.
