Monuments and museums

Monuments & Museums

In a cultural tour of India you are invariably likely to come across different monuments, from havelis, to chatris, to temples, to churches, to museums. The good and the bad part is that there is no stereotype of the kind of “monuments” you will see in India, and different cities and regions draw from their own unique heritage and style of architecture. Eg. the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan has an unique style of colorful frescos on the monuments, the Marwar region of Rajasthan has arch-type jharokhas made in the balconis, the South Indian temples have tall and colorful dravidian style pagodas, the ruins of Vijayanagars kingdom in Hampi has monuments made in local stone. Each of them tells a different story and takes you to a different segment of Indian history. Cherish each one of them, for they together make up the collective heritage of India!
