The Nxai Pan National Park is located on the northern side of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park and is surrounded by a vast grass plain including the clump of Baines baobab. The National Park’s attractive point is the waterhole which is used to provide water to a large variety of animals, located two kilometers from the park's entrance gate, in between a verdant plain dotted with thorn trees. Nxai pan National Park is the permanent residence for lion, kudu, impala, ostrich, birds, and a significant variety of springboks along with a large population of jackals, bat-eared foxes, and some smaller species. The National Park is a house to gemsbok, elephant, and zebra when the rain starts. There are a large number of zebra's present at this National Park that helps in improving the game watching opportunity. The variety of activities in Nxai Pan National Park happens during the summer season and with the arrival of monsoons.
Apart from wildlife, there are some more interesting points to remember about this National Park. The most famous 'old trekking path' is a trail that was used to cut the route from Ngamiland to Kazungula through Pandamatenga between the 1950s and 1960s. The game drives to Nxai pans in the early morning and afternoon allowing the visitors to find and know about the different variety of wildlife in the region. Trekking and touring to the nearby Baines Baobabs and walking in nature is the specialty of this park.

Nxai Pans National Park is dominated by large salt pans and well-known for attracting large herds of animals. The main attraction of the National Park is the group of baobab trees, the famed Baines Baobabs. The National Park is situated on the migration route of animals traveling through the Okavango River, and the grassland in and around the Makgadikgadi National Park. Lions, giraffes, kudus, jackals, springboks, impalas, and bat-eared foxes can very easily be seen inside the National Park. The focal point of the National Park is the water pool, situated a few kilometers from the entrance gate, amidst a large grassy plain dotted with a few clumps of small umbrella thorn trees.
This National Park is rich in avifauna. There are a variety of birds seen here are the white-browed sparrow weavers, capped wheatears, pale chanting goshawks, white-browed robin and the Chin spot batis. The differentiation of the species is done through the distribution of a variety of species such as double-banded Breeder and the Northern Black Korhaan. When it comes to wildlife this National Park is famous for lions, giraffes, kudu, impala, ostrich and a large number of springbok who are the permanent residents of this place. One can also witness the healthy population of jackals, bat-eared foxes, and other smaller animals. Gemsbok, lion, and zebra migrate to this National Park once the rain starts. One can also see the yellow-billed and red-billed oxpeckers here which are typically seen on the herbivores' backs such as on zebras and giraffes when they are consuming parasites. Eland, Oryx, and Hartebeest live here until the water dries up before heading towards the northern regions where there is no scarcity of water.
Camps and Hotels:
Nxai Pan Camp: Naxi pan camp is the permanent camp within the Naxi National Park. This camp offers the fossil lake-bed littered with a grace that was once the part of the great lake that littered the central part of Botswana. During the monsoon, this camp attracts a large number of wildlife creatures especially the zebra and giraffe.
Nxai Pan Lodge: The Nxai Pan Lodge is the permanent lodge inside the Nxai Pan National Park offering the beautiful view of the Kalahari park in Botswana. This lodge combines the beautiful accommodation in the Okavango Delta to deliver a classic safari to the desert. This lodge offers a perfect way to enjoy the park's game drives as well as the world-famous Baines Baobab trees. In Kwando Nxai Pan visitors can explore the wildlife in Kalahari, chase big cats and wild dogs as well as small animals like jungle cats and brown hyenas.
