South Africa Highlights

Overview

In the span of 8 days get the wonderful highlights of South Africa. The first three days will be spent on a thrilling Cape Town tour, during which you will visit some of the popular tourist hubs like the Tabletop Mountain, Two Ocean Aquarium, Robben and Seal Islands, and Malay Quarter. During this time you will also experience the picturesque and stunning Sunset Cruise at Cape Town and Helicopter exploration of the city. You will also thoroughly explore the Cape Peninsula by visiting the Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope.

The next few days will be spent in and around Johannesburg while staying at South Africa’s luxurious Sun City resort. Here you will go on a game drive at the Pilanesberg National Park. Subsequent visits to Lesedi Village and The Cradle of Humankind will give you an insight into the culture and ancient history of South Africa.

ITINERARY - 8 Days
Day 1

Arriving at Cape Town

Your Cape Town tour will start with your arrival at the airport, followed by transfer to the hotel. You can spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

 

In the evening, be ready to be dazzled by the sunset cruise. Watching the sunset at sea on a cruise is a unique and must experience, especially at Cape Town, which offers some of the most spectacular sunsets over the ocean. Sipping the sparkling wine, listening to sounds that waves make as they lap against the vessel's hull as you enjoy the last few seconds of sunset is a romantic affair.

 

Overnight will be spent at Cape Town.

Day 2

The Historical Tabletop Mountain Cape Town tour

Today, after breakfast, head out on a half-day Cape Town tour. The first stop is Tabletop Mountain Cape Town's famous mountain that offers a spectacular view. As you return to the city, you will pass through the Malay Quarter, followed by a visit to Two Ocean Aquarium.

 

You will drive past the Houses of Parliament, Castle of Good Hope, and the Company Gardens. The tour will also include drinking in the scenic ocean views from Camps Bay and Sea Point. If weather permits, you will be taken to Robben Island to view the sea bird and Seal Island to spot the seals via a cruise. Lastly, if there is time, there will be a quick visit to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.

 

In the evening you have the optional Cape Town helicopter ride, during which you will enjoy the stunning sunset while exploring the city from the skies and catching sight of Clifton Beach, CampsBay, and Table Mountain. The ride is preceded by going on the exciting Cape Wheel.

 

You will spend the night in Cape Town.

Day 3

Exploring the Cape Peninsula

After a quick breakfast at the hotel, head for an excursion to Cape Peninsula at 8 am today.

Passing South Africa's most scenic route Hout Bay, you will head to Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve. On your way, you will see thousands of Cape Fur Seals and the rare Black Cormorant lazily pace around the kelp beds during summer. As you continue towards the reserve, you will drive through Chapman's Peak Drive.

Located at the southwestern tip of the reserve is Cape Point. The scenery en-route here is a sight to behold during spring when the landscape is adorned with wildflowers. As you ascend the Point via the Flying Dutchman Funicular, you will see the new lighthouse, which is the most powerful in the world and beams an electric light of 19 million candle power across the ocean.

Later, you will visit Boulders Beach's penguin colony and drive through Simon's Town, the historic naval base. The coastline of Cape Town is a spectacular sight. Therefore, admiring it during your stay and Cape Town tour is a must.

Return to Cape Town after the day's exploration for an overnight stay.

Day 4

Reaching Sun City

Marking the end of your Cape Town tour, on day 4 you will head to the airport to catch a flight to Johannesburg.

Upon arrival at Johannesburg, drive down to Sun City.

Sun City is an internationally renowned luxury holiday resort in South Africa. As an epitome of extravagance and comfort, the resort has a plethora of activities and attractions to keep guests occupied. Check in to your room upon arrival and spend the evening at your leisure, exploring the resort's casinos and activities. Overnight stay will be in Sun City.

Day 5

Safari and Transfer

Steaming hot coffee and a final early increase game drive because so that we can watch the sunrise for the last time over the African horizon. By now we created some truly memorable memories and should have seen most if not all of the Big Cats. On our drive we can take in the sweet aromas and sights of this bush, and who knows, maybe we're lucky with another Big Cat! After a last delectable breakfast, we pack our luggage, bid sayonara and leave the camp. You will be transferred to the airport to grab the passing flight.

Day 6

Free Day at Sun City

Today you are free to spend the day at Sun City at the entertainment complex or outside with activities like Game drives, Jet Skiing, Parasailing, Golfing, water sport, Hot air ballooning, etc., at your leisure. Overnight stay at Sun City.

Day 7

Cultural and Historical Exploration

Day 7 is when you will get to explore the cultural heritage and ancient history of South Africa. Your first stop would be The Cradle of Humankind, a World Heritage Site known for its palaeontological sites, which are home to some of mankind's oldest relics. Here, you will visit Maropeng for a museum tour of man's evolution and see the small, man-made river and Sterkfontein Caves for a guided tour of the caves, which go 60 meters below the ground.

Post lunch, you will head to Lesedi Cultural Village, where you will experience a traditional welcome. Here, you will go on a guided cultural tour, which will take you through two of the four homesteads in the village.

Xhosa with their red blankets and thatched homes, Zulu with the fighting sticks and cozy huts, Pedi with rhythmic drums and courtyard, and Basotho with their conical straw hats and sturdy mountain ponies make up the primary homestead (traditional villages) at Lesedi. You will enjoy a traditional dinner along with their traditional song and dance performances.

Continue towards Johannesburg, where you will stay overnight.

Day 8

Departing from Johannesburg

After breakfast at the hotel, head for a half-day exploration of Johannesburg city. You will drive past various areas in the city like Carlton Centre and continue towards Johannesburg downtown past the headquarters of Anglo American and Supreme Court.

After the tour, head to the airport to catch your flight to the next destination or back home.
