Our journey to this extraordinary country starts in Paro, home to some of the most famous monasteries and spectacular views. One of the most renowned places for Bhutan tourism is the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, or Taktsang Monastery, located in the Paro valley. Hiking to this spot is the adventure of a lifetime. A spiritual nest of Buddhism, the Tiger’s Nest monastery is the main stop in our 5-day trip from Paro to Thimphu. Thimphu is the cultural capital of Bhutan, so make sure you see the most of the unique culture and aesthetics of Bhutan.

ITINERARY - 5 Days
Day 1

Arrive in Paro

Your guide will welcome you and drive you to the capital, which is an hour and a half away. After relaxing, visit Tashichho Dzong. The Dzong is the seat of the civil government and is a fortress that overlooks the city. The Memorial Chorten is an architectural wonder built to honor the former king. Visit the Great Buddha Dordenma statue and enjoy the sunset over the valley.

Day 2

Transfer to Thimpu

 Drive around the city of Thimphu for half a day. Check out the museums, art workshops, convents and monasteries, indigenous medicine hospital, and the weekend market. Also visit the Takin Sanctuary, home to the national animal of Bhutan. Take in the cultural wonders Bhutan tourism has to offer.

Start your journey after lunch to Punakha, which will take three hours. Enjoy the drive through the forest leading to the elevated DochuLa Pass. It is at an elevation of 10,000 ft. The view from the top is worth the ride. Drive down to the sub-tropical Punakha Valley and visit the Punakha Dzong, which is located at the intersection of two rivers. Unwind yourself by attending evening prayer at the nunnery and exploring the town market.

Day 3

Explore Thimphu

 Enjoy the most of Bhutan's tourism by starting early for a quick hike to Chimi Lhakhang temple. This is particularly famous for being the ‘fertility temple,’ blessed by the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kunley. The phallic imagery here is quite interesting. Continue the drive back to DochuLa Pass and soak in the mesmerizing views of the Himalayan peaks along the Tibetan border.

The next stop is Lungchutse Lhakhang, which offers breathtaking views from a hilltop. Enjoy a two-hour trek among the greenery. Finish off with a picnic lunch at the top of the mountains. Walk down to the meditation center of Trashigang Goemba for a serene time. Your guide will pick you up from here for the journey to Paro.

Day 4

drive to Punakha.

Get ready for a day-long hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest monastery today. This iconic destination is also known as Paro Taktsang. A three-hour trek will take you to this 17th-century monastery that looks like it's precariously hanging off a cliff. A short walk ahead will take you to more monasteries with amazing views. Stop at Kyichu Lhakhang on the way back down and explore Bhutan’s oldest monastery, a popular aspect of Bhutan tourism. Savor the Bhutanese delicacies as you have a farewell dinner with your guide.

Day 5

From Punakha and drive to the DochuLa Pass

Explore Paro to find the intricacies of Bhutanese culture, the National Museum, the various Dzongs, and the famous temples. Ta Dzong, Rinpung Dzong, and Dungtse Lhakhang Temple are all interesting places to see before you head for your journey back. Make sure you carry souvenirs from this beautiful city. Say goodbye now, but Bhutan will stay with you forever.
